Cross-platform framework

A cross-platform framework for native apps in Java

Write your app once in Java and ship it as a native app on Desktop (Windows, macOS and Linux), Android, iOS and the web (Chrome, Firefox, Safari and other browsers) — with GPU rendering, no JavaScript bridge, and a single codebase.

What is a cross-platform framework?

A cross-platform framework lets you build one application that runs on several operating systems — desktop, mobile, sometimes web — from a single codebase, instead of writing and maintaining a separate app per platform. The goal is to ship faster and keep behavior consistent while still feeling native to each system.

What is CrossFly?

CrossFly is an open-source cross-platform framework built around the Java language and GPU rendering via LibGDX/OpenGL. You write your UI and logic once in plain Java; CrossFly compiles it to native binaries for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. There is no JavaScript bridge and no web view — the app draws its own pixels on the GPU.

Platforms CrossFly targets

Desktop

Windows, macOS and Linux from the same Java code.

Android

Native Android builds, no web view.

iOS

Native iOS builds from the same source.

How CrossFly works

1

You write Java

Components, layouts, navigation and state — all in a language you already know, with your existing JVM tooling and libraries.

2

CrossFly renders on the GPU

The UI is drawn directly with LibGDX/OpenGL. No native widget bridge, no HTML/CSS/JS layer — which keeps rendering fast and consistent across platforms.

3

You ship native binaries

The same codebase compiles to native apps for desktop and mobile, so there is one project to build, test and maintain.

Why CrossFly

One Java codebase

If you know Java, you already know CrossFly. Reuse your language, your team's skills and the JVM ecosystem.

GPU rendering, no JS bridge

The app draws itself on the GPU via OpenGL. No JavaScript bridge to cross, so the UI stays smooth.

Offline-first ready

Pair it with CrossFly Sync for bidirectional offline-first data on top of the database you already use.

Desktop and mobile together

Desktop (Windows, macOS and Linux), Android, iOS and the web (Chrome, Firefox, Safari and other browsers) from one project — not a mobile-only or desktop-only tool.

When a cross-platform framework like CrossFly fits

Enterprise & B2B apps

Line-of-business, sales-force and back-office apps that must run on desktop and mobile with one team.

Offline / field work

Apps used where connectivity is unreliable — logistics, field service, retail — that sync when back online.

Performance-sensitive UIs

Interfaces that need smooth, consistent rendering across devices without a web view in the middle.
