# Coming from TotalCross / SuperWaba

# Coming from TotalCross / SuperWaba

CrossFly is the **modern evolution** of the SuperWaba/TotalCross SDK, rewritten on top of **libGDX/OpenGL**. If
you know the ancestor, much of the model is familiar — the focus here is **what changed**.

## What stays familiar
- **MainWindow via `classname`** (the main window is resolved by name and instantiated via reflection).
- **ARGB color `0xAARRGGBB`** (int).
- **UI built in code** (there is no markup/XML).
- **Single-thread UI model** — the entire UI on a single thread.

## What CHANGED (renames)

## What was REMOVED for good
- **Lightweight persistence** `appSettings` / `storeSettings()` — **removed**. Use SQLite or files in
  `Device.homeFolder` ([guide](/docs/data-and-services/files-and-preferences)).
- **Legacy deploy**: `tc.Deploy`, 4-letter `applicationId`, `pdb`.
- **Removed widgets/features**: `Grid`, `Tree`, `TopMenu`, `Accordion`, `Spacer`, `Velocimeter`,
  `Toast`/`ToolTip` (→ `Hint`), and all **PDF / ESC-POS / barcode / printer** (barcode is now via
  camera — see [Camera and barcode](/docs/data-and-services/device-camera)).

## Porting notes
- Where you read/wrote `Settings.appSettings`, create a **key/value table in SQLite**.
- `phone.*` → `device.*`; Bluetooth JSR-82/SPP → **BLE/GATT** (`BluetoothManager`, see
  [Bluetooth BLE](/docs/data-and-services/device-bluetooth-ble)).
- Dates/times/currency: locale formatting now lives in **`LocaleFormats`** (see
  [i18n](/docs/best-practices/internacionalizacao)).
